कभी कभी हम आम बोलचाल में भी phrasal verbs का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। इसे English में Idioms कहते हैं। आपने ध्यान दिया होगा कि कभी एक ही verb के पीछे तरह तरह के preposition इस्तेमाल करने से इसका अर्थ बदल जाता है। जैसे, put on, put off, put down, put forward etc. These all are example of Phrasal Verbs

Phrasal Verbs with ‘B’
1. Break into – ज़बरदस्ती घुसना
The thief broke into the house and stole whole money at midnight. चोर आधी रात को घर में ज़बरदस्ती घुस गया और सारे पैसे चुरा लिया।
2. Back up – साथ देना, समर्थन करना
My old friend always backs me up in time of need. मेरा पूराना दोस्त ज़रूरत के समय हमेशा साथ देता है।
3. Bring up – परवरिश करना/ पालना
It’s the duty of every parents to bring up their children the best possible way. हर मां बाप का यह कर्तव्य है कि अपने बच्चों का हर मुमकिन पालन पोषण करें।
4. Bear with – बर्दाश्त करना
He cannot bear with your tantrums. वह तुम्हारे नखरे बर्दाश्त नहीं कर सकता।
5. Blow out – फूंक कर बुझाना
The servant blew out the candle and went to bed. नौकर ने बत्ती बुझाई और सोने चला गया।
6. Break open – तोड़कर खोलना
The criminal broke open the box and ran away with jwellery. अपराधी ने बक्सा को तोड़कर खोला और गहने लेकर भाग गया।
7. Bring out – छापना
The Times of India has brought out the news of Aaryan Khan on front page. टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया ने आर्यन खांन की खबर को पहले पन्ने पर छापा है।
Phrasal Verbs with ‘C’
1. Call in – बुलवाना
Because of robbery at the bank, police had been called in. बैंक में डाका पड़ने से पुलिस को बुलवायी गई।
2. Carry away – भावनाओं में बह जाना
The speaker carried away all of us by his speech. स्पीकर ने हम सबको अपने भाषण से भावनाओं में बहा ले गया।
3. Carry out – पालन करना
We should carry out the instructions given here. हमें यहां दिए गए निर्देशो का पालन करना चाहिए।
4. Come up – ऊपर आना
The water level of the river comes up during the rainy season. बरसात के मौसम में नदी का पानी स्तर ऊपर आ जाता है।
5. Come out – प्रकाशित होना
My result has not come out yet. अब भी मेरा परिणाम प्रकाशित नहीं हुआ है।
6. Cut off – काटकर अलग कर देना
The hunter cut off the head of a deer. शिकारी ने हिरण का सर काटकर अलग कर दिया।
7. Come over – पहुंचना
We have come over from Mumbai to see you. हमलोग मुंबई से तुम्हें देखने आए हैं।
Phrasal Verbs with ‘D’
1. Do without – के कमी में
We can’t do this without your help. हम आपके मदद के बिना यह नहीं कर सकते हैं।
2. Do up – मरम्मत करना/ सुधारना
They are doing up the house so that they can easily live in it. वे लोग घर की मरम्मत कर रहे हैं ताकि वे आसानी से उसमें रह सके।
3. Drop in – बिना बताए मिलने आना
My room was mess and my uncle dropped in. मेरा घर बिखरा था और मेरे चाचा बिना बताए मिलने आ गये।
4. Drop out – छोड़ना / हार मानना
Due to poverty he had to drop out his study. ग़रीबी के कारण उसे अपनी पढ़ाई छोड़नी पड़ी।
Phrasal Verbs with ‘G’
1. Get back – वापस लौटना
We visited Delhi whole day and got back in the evening. हम पूरा दिन दिल्ली घूमे और शाम तक वापस आ गए।
2. Give up – छोड़ना
He finally gave up his smoking habit. अंत में उसने सिगरेट पीने की आदत को छोड़ दिया।
3. Get on – चढ़ना
At what time did you get on the bus yesterday? तुम कल बस पर कितने बजे चढ़े थे ?
4. Get down – उतरना
He got down on Howrah station in Kolkata without informing us. वह बिना हमें बताए कोलकाता में हावड़ा स्टेशन पर उतर गया।
5. Go through – गुजरना/ पढ़ना
I have been going through the book for a week you suggested me. मैं आपके बताए हुए किताब को एक सप्ताह से पढ़ रहा हूं।
6. Go beyond – हद से बाहर जाना
Don’t try to go beyond the limits. सीमा से बाहर जाने की कोशिश मत करना।
7. Go on – जारी रहना/ लगातार
He goes on reading throughout the night. वह सारी रात पढ़ाई करता रहा।
8. Go against – के खिलाफ जाना
Can you go against the will of your parents ? क्या तुम अपने माता पिता के मर्जी के खिलाफ जा सकते हो ?
9. Go ahead – आगे बढ़ना/ जारी रखना
You go ahead, I will follow you. आप आगे जाओ, मैं आपके पीछे आऊंगा।
10. Go away – छोड़ना और चले जाना
Please go away. I can’t play with you. कृपया तुम चले जाओ, मैं तुम्हारे साथ नहीं खेल सकता हूं।
11. Go without – के बिना रहना
In the forest he had to go without food for five days. जंगल में उसे बिना भोजन के पांच दिन रहना पड़ा।
Phrasal Verbs with ‘L’
1. Look for – खोजना
She was looking for a new job. वह नई नौकरी खोज रही थी।
2. Look after – देखभाल करना
The guard looks after our house at night. गार्ड रात में हमारी घर की देखभाल करता है।
3. Look up – किताब में खोजना
We should look up new words in the dictionary. हमें शब्दों को शब्दकोष में खोजना चाहिए।
4. Look around – चारों ओर देखना
When it was raining on the way, he was looked around for shelter. जब रास्ते में वर्षा हो रही थी तो वह छुपने के लिए चारों ओर देखा।
5. Look back – पीछे देखना
Why didn’t she look back while going away? वह जाते हुए पीछे मुड़कर क्यों नहीं देखी ?
Phrasal Verbs with ‘P’
1. Put on – पहनना
I don’t like to put on cap with the jeans. मैं जीन्स के साथ टोपी पहना पसंद नहीं करता हूं।
2. Put off – स्थापित करना/ टालना
Don’t put off till tomorrow. आज का काम कर पर न टाल।
3. Put down – लिखना
I have put down all important notes. मैंने सभी जरूरी नोट्स लिख लिया है।
